Sex, Lies, and Blogs…

Filed under: Uncategorized — Tina Wainscott @ 9:23 pm

One of the most provocative titles I’ve ever heard was the movie Sex, Lies and Videotape.  So my bastardizing of that title is a bit appropriate since my book, WHAT LIES IN SHADOW, is quite provocative in itself.  After all, my heroine, Jonna, is considering having an affair, but only because she’s sure her distant-but-sexy husband is having one.  That’s the SEX part.  LIES, well, that goes along with infidelity, and Jonna is trapped in not only her lies but other people’s lies as well.  BLOGS is one of her secrets.  She created a blog where she anonymously poured out her frustrations and desires, and when The Boston Globe picked up the story, her blog became hugely popular.  More popular than Jonna ever wanted it to be.

Okay, back to the SEX part.  So Jonna decides to dip her toe in the waters of infidelity with an innocent lunch with Dominic, a sexy-but-sensitive man she’s met through her blog who promises to sate her every desire.  Only she decides that she can’t do it.  She’s got to give her marriage one last try.  The only problem is, Dominic knows who she really is and he isn’t about to let her go.  While she’s desperately trying to keep her secrets from her husband, Dominic is doing everything he can to expose them.  She can’t get the blog shut down, can’t turn to anyone for help, and can’t get away from her stalker.  Her secret is about to destroy her life.  Then Jonna discovers her husband has some secrets of his own.  In fact, most everyone in her life has secrets, and some of those secrets are downright deadly.

So I could have called this blog Sex, Lies, Blogs and Murder.  Oh, and Secrets!  In fact, I should have called the book Sex, Lies, Blogs, Murder, Secrets, with Lots of Twists and Turns. Yeah, I know: too many words.  I’m a writer, what can I say? J

I’ve got a sneak peek at the book and tidbits in my Inside Information page on my Fun Stuff link at my website: www.tinawainscott.com.  I don’t blog a whole lot, and I definitely don’t share the kind of things Jonna shares on her fictional blog.  And now you see why.  In fact, I’ve had a few people tell me that they’re awfully glad they don’t share personal information after reading my book.  After all, you never know who’s looking…
